Is this WMF silverpate piece a humidor?

At first I thought it was a little bank, with the slot on top. But I opened it and it has a fixed piece of felt? under the slot. It is small, only 2-3/4" high and wide. Tiny WMF mark (I do know the maker is Wurttemberg Metalwork Factory) on the bottom.

Is it a humidor?

Thanks!

And my thinking for a humidor was to keep the felt moist by dropping water through the slot. Tobacco was a prized commodity, so keeping it locked made sense - to me. Smiley Surprised

The other listings say bank, but nowhere does it positively state they are banks.

And why not?  It's perfectly fair to say you were the first one with the answer.    Smiley Happy

But... I am still researching. I found a WMF duck bank. It has a regular size slot on top and a bottom hole for gettin' the cash! I'm still kinda thinking tobacco box/humidor. This slot is just too big and with that felt... I will keep looking and let y'all know if I find out anything for certain!

Well, it's impossibly small for cigars or cigarettes, awfully small for loose tobacco, not airtight to keep either one moist, and I have never in all by born days seen a humidor or a tobacco box with a slot...  but happy hunting and let us know what you find.

I would like to have a closer look at the felt and the slot. I am still not convinced that the slot and the felt are original ones. Their workmanship does not seem to be of the same quality level and I think they were made at a later stage.
