Your box looks 18th/e19th c, Made of bone. The last pic says St Joseph (when the "J"s were shown as "I"s).

Help with Old German Script

I guess no one else has heard of such a thing, but it's true. It's seen in 18th cent books and engravings, painted chests, inked inscriptions. Mostly on Early American and English writingff and... the little box seen in this thread. As I said, it might help with the translation. It may be that this box is Pennsylvania Dutch rather than German. My 2 cents, and  twelve dollars might get you a ham sandwich.

Also. those eyes seen in the band  of decoration must have some meaning. Where else have we seen an eye in an engraving? Hmm...
