I got hold of this small painting many years ago and was wondering if someone would have any idea on who painted it. I can't find any of the painter's name or initials.
The only thing I have are details of the framer ie by Ridenour Studio in Fayetteville NC.
Many thanks for any info.

You might try removing it from the frame in case the signature is hidden.

Also, that process gives access to what is under the paper if it is not glued down.

Many thanks for your replies.
I've been very tempted to do that in fact but wary that I might damage the backing.
What I liked about it was finding an old painting with a 4-digit number + I presume is the area code.
I'm not familiar with the telephone system/ numbering in the States but based on the phone number given, could one assess the period when the frame was made? Understandably, the painting may be of a different time period.

Aside from the 5 digit phone number there is no postal zone, so that would put the framing label before the early 1940's most likely.

I think your dating is probably correct in this case, but I'd be a little careful with the postal code thing. The first codes were introduced in 1943 but only in 124 biggest U.S. cities, a war-time measure. It was another 20 years before USPS began to develop postal codes for all addresses, and about another 10 years after that before use was universal.
More here, for anyone unfamiliar with the U.S. system, because Rita is right that the presence of absence of a postal code, and its format, can really help in dating things:

That was much earlier than I thought.
