Hello everyone I have a ceramic dish with "made in Italy" on it and unknown makers mark. The internet has not provided any information as to the maker or a similar mark which would lead me in the right direction so I am hoping someone has knowledge of this mark. I think it is either ZU or UZ in a circle.

Ugo Zaccagnini is my first guess, but let's check that mark, because it is out of character for Zaccagnini (or any handcrafted Italian majolica, really) that I've seen. And there's so much I haven't.
His style is best described as "really?" It's ALL over the map, some stunning in their execution and form, some...hunh...awful beyond description.
The only way I know to I.D. Ugo is by his tell-tale "Z" done by hand, with gusto and a cross through the middle like a French 7.
This piece may be from his studio, but not his hand. Like the kids sold the branding rights to Macy's and this is the result. No idea.
Please keep us posted on developments. I'm very curious.

It's him.

Hi Mae, thank you very much or that. I looked everywhere and found nothing but as usual there are always people who know the right place. Very much appreciated 🙂

Hi Mae , me again just looked up some other info that might help in the future. It looks like that makers mark is his son's , Urbano, born 1901.
