Hello, I hope you can help date and possible the maker of my 2 Foo Dogs with a rider candle holders. They are made to look bronze I think. They are heavy and measure 9.1/2" tall x 9" long. Not much on the bottom to help just a number and I see XI?  What do you think. I have looked and cannot see another with a rider.

they could be resin with bronze finish,it is modern day repro,it is silly to ride foo dog.
Foo dogs are middle eastern lions which are mostly extinct except in India, they were gifted to Chinese emperors from Middle Eastern countries .
Does not matter if repo or no repo, foo dogs lovers have not seen a foo dog they do not want to own,so list them.

Foo dogs are mythical beasts, a cross between a dog and a lion. In China, they are just called lions. Guardian lions.

In Japan, they are called lion-dogs (Komainu), and called other things in different countries.

They are considered guardians protecting temples, shrines, government buildings, and in modern day, anything...stores, restaurants, businesses, etc.

Foo dogs with riders could be considered palace guard riders. They are the ones that mastered the foo dogs.

I would call them foo dogs  but also research the name (like wikipedia) and put a little of that history info in a listing.

I don't know anything else like age, source...
