The town of Nordlingen was built in a giant crater.

1215- Granted 'city rights' by Emp. Fred II.
1238-Part of town destroyed by fire. Town rebuilt.
1803-Nordlingen became part of Bavaria.
WW2- 33 residents were killed in allied air raid.
