Stadt Neustadt an der Orla-20 Mark-1918.

29 January 2024- Greetings to all coin, token, medallion, & paper money collectors, where-ever you might be.  (Attention: this note is NOT FOR SALE).  Another neat Neustadt item (Heron has reported here several different Stadt Neustadt issues of metal tokens, however, the records show this to be the 1st Stadt Neustadt of paper money.  

 

Type: A Gutschein (good coupon).

Size: 120mm X 77mm.

Reference: Geiger 379.03a.

Serial # on note= 9170.

Attention: This note is NOT FOR SALE.

Condition = XF.

Hand stamped in Red: UNGULTIG ...'invalid'.

This Stadt Neustadt located on the River Orla, about 260 miles

North East of Landau in Palatine.

2021 Population = 9,022.

Attention: This fun acquisition IS NOT FOR SALE.

In 1703 Johann Ernnst Hebenssreit born in Neustadt a.d. Orla.

1974: Hanka Kupfernagel born in Neustadt a.d. Orla

Kupfernagel = copper nail in English.

**Another interesting 1918 issue of paper money.  A nice addition to Heron's small accumulation of WWI paper money issues.  These items are collected for FUN.  It is not an 'investment' segmento of Heron's paper money.  Only collected for fun!  And Heron continues to enjoy this fine hobby of paper money collecting.  Great fun for a lifetime!**

to find it easier today - I'd rather position it  appr. 40 miles south of Jena (Carl Zeiss) or 100 miles west of Dresden.

the reason many cities issued Gutscheine was to keep the theoretical values in their vicinity because they were not changable to real money.

Yes, that is probably a good idea. However, el Heron has NO anchesters that lived East of Landau or North of Landau in the Palatine.  So, el Heron being more familiar with Landau in the Palatine, uses that as a 'measurement' or locator of sorts.
