Notgeld of Kaspel Burg S/D. Foftig Penn. May 1916.

15 May 2024: Greetings to all coin, token, & paper money collectors, where-ever you might be. (Attention: this note IS NOT FOR SALE). One of the most interesting war time paper money issues now owned by Heron:

Kaspel Burg = Parish (of) Burg.

Burg S/D = (town of) Burg in South Dithmarschen.

Dithmarschen = a Kreis (District) in province Schleswig-Holstein.

Foftig Penn = Funfzig Pfennig in German//Fifty Pennies in English.

Attention: This note IS NOT FOR SALE.

Comment: When Heron received this interesting piece of paper money the currency holder was labeled "German Notgeld".  Heron thought, well time to read the info on note.  However, the note was NOT printed in German language. Heron began to search the innernet for information.

Heron was able to find an interesting site with info regarding the local dialect known as Holsteinische Dialect.  Then, Heron tuned in to Numista site and there it was!  The words Kaspel Burg already translated.  Such is life in the big city.

Type Note: Local war emergency paper money.

Size of Note: 95mm X 70mm.

Issue Date= 24 May 1916.

Grade of note= Uncirculated.

Attention: This note IS NOT FOR SALE.

Ref: Numista #218765.

Numista Rarity Index = 75.

Very nice Photos at the great Numista Site.

**This note printed in the Holsteinische Dialect is the only note in

Heron's small collection printed in that dialect.  An interesting piece

of numismatic history.  Always something of interest to acquire and

have fun researching.  This is a great hobby for a lifetime!**

Atencion: This note IS NOT FOR SALE.
