Heron discovered this note encased in a plastic currency holder

and at the bottom of a stack of numismatic magazines & papers.

This discovery occurred several days pasado whilst Heron was cleaning out some stacks of papers.  No doubt this nice note happened to be on the 'work table' and Heron just kept piling mags and newspaper articles onnit.

But currency holder was marked with information on the 'stick on labels'.  And Heron remembered where & when the note was purchased!  It was purchased at the Mercado Central in Mazatl'an, Mexico first week December 1996.

Heron & Mrs Heron rode the local 'autobus' from hotel to the Mercado Central.  Whilst strolling about the outer edge of the huge market, Heron noticed a seller of music tapes with several 1 Peso Aztec Calendar notes taped to the plexiglass 'door' of the seller's cubicle.  There were two young women inside cubicle and Heron asked to see the Jefe General of the business.  They laughed and said el Jefe would arrive at 1100 hrs.

Well, that actually could mean from 1030 to 1130 so Mrs Heron & Heron went to inspect the hand-made wool ponchos for sale.  We negotiated a nice price and purchased 4 ponchos that Heron volunteered to carry.

Then we wandered through the Mercado Central whilst Mrs Heron searched for turquois & silver jewelry.  Found a few nice items.  Returned to music tape seller's cubicle at 1045 and el Jefe was there.  Heron asked if he had any 1910 Revolutionary notes in his inventory. Seller invited Heron into cubicle.  There was room for just 2 folding chairs.  The Seller took down two dusty shoeboxes and showed contents to Heron.  The shoeboxes were packed with notes from 1910 Revolution plus some 1 and 5 Pesos notes dated 1950s.  There were also about 15 'mine company' tokens of 25 Centavos value.  Hundreds of uncirculated 1 Peso & 5 Peso notes still wrapped in original paper imprinted with Mexico City printing logo.

Well, we had a great time negotiating.  And the time was 'right' because it was near Christmas time and the seller needed money for Christmas

time.  Heron purchased all of the items for $135 U.S.  Heron had cash and the seller was happy and also sold us a canvas shopping bag half price.  We had plenty of stuff to carry so we took a Taxi back to the hotel.  A great day during a fine 8 day visit to Mazatl'an and surrounding area.

Note: Mexico City located about 5,928 miles from Landau in der Pfalz.

**This has been a great hobby and for a life time!**

Atencion: This note is NOT FOR SALE.
