Latin Button Inscription Question

I have a bunch of buttons with a man's head on them with two Latin inscriptions on them: "Docendo discimus" (a saying of Seneca, meaning "We learn by teaching"), and "Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit" (a saying of Lucretius, meaning "Nothing comes from nothing"). I have found in the past that some of the buttons having Latin sayings on them are reproductions of old coins, but I'm having trouble finding out if this particular button is a reproduction of an old coin and who the man is who is pictured on the button. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much!! thyra100

Latin Button Inscription Question

Thyra: Images for the photo album have to be approved by the group moderator, I just received the notice of your pending photo post and approved it. Just click on the photo album to see her image. I think they might be too small to see the detail. Many buttons sold in yardgood stores over the years have latin sayings on them, they were sold as blazer buttons. -Carol C-
