what is MPN under variations when creating a listing?

need help in creating a listing for multiple items that have different designs.  When you go into Variations - this MPN is listed there as an attribute.  No idea what it is- or if I need to keep it.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

You can set your attributes to be anything you want.  You don't have to use the suggestions.

Generally when I see MPN, I think manufacturer's part number.
