I see a new thing on tax since the last time i used ebay. I have been paging around trying to figure something out but I really haven't found anything that tells me what I need to do.
I hope someone can give me a brief summary of what I need to know or do in my case.
I am selling as a private individual, not a business. Do I need to charge tax? Example, I am selling a couple of keyboard/musical instruments for around $800 each. I live in Florida in a county that charges 7.0 % tax.
If I need to charge tax is it only in FLorida or are other states included.
If i need to charge tax does this go into paypal and how do I report or pay for it. I don't need a sellers license to I ?
And there are probably other questions I don't even know enough to ask at the moment.
If someone could please give me the few simple steps it takes to handle this I would appreciate it.
After the keyboard sales I was planning on selling a bunch of stuff around the house like records, books and whatever but if this gets too complicated I may not.
NOTE: i just called ebay and was told since i'm not a business i don't have to list my state or any tax amount and just leave it blank. I s this correct? I've had wrong info before. if this is so, then great.
