return nightmare

Bought an electronic part from a seller. Decided it wasn't what I needed, wanted to exchange it for a similar item. Initiated a return. eBay would print the return packing slip, but would not print the return label. After many tries, I just took the item to the post office and sent it as a first class package, with a note saying I wanted to exchange it. After a week, e-mailed the seller and asked about status of my return. No answer. Now trying to resolve this through eBay, but every page I end up on says "you haven't returned the item yet," apparently because I never was able to print their return label. Cannot get anyone at eBay to talk to me about this, extremely frustrating. It's only a $20 item, but I don't want to get ripped off.
