newly listed items

I've noticed in the last few days that not all items are in "newly listed" order in my searches.

IE: This morning, there were 2 items listed for 08/01/20, then 2 items from a past date. I realize these 2 items are "sponsored" items, and I'm used to those.

But after that, there may be a dozen or more items listed for 08/01/20, but then there may be one or two dated from 07/31/20, followed by more from 08/01/20. Then suddenly, we're back to items from 07/31/20, then back to 08/01/20. )This occurs ONLY in the searches where "many" items were listed overnight, and hasn't affected categories where only a few items were added overnight.) Once the listing date goes back more than a couple days (ie: 07/29/20), everything again returns to normal.

My setting choice for searches IS "newly listed", but it doesn't seem to be working as it did in the past.

Am I doing something wrong or has something changed I was unaware of?
