Is this possible?

Let's say I have 20 variations of an item and wanting to sell in lots of 8 for $10 per lot. Is there a way to allow customers to select the 8 items they want from those 20 variations and create their own custom lot of 8?  

Or, is the only way for me to do that is create the lot of 8 myself and the customer would just choose a lot that I created. I know I can do it this way but wanted to allow the customer to choose the 8 items themselves.
