lost packages

Has anyone had issues with a lost package? Here is my problem... Apparently my buyer forgot to put their apt number on the PayPal page where it says "ok to ship". I was notified of that on the day the package was due to arrive. Since the fine folks at USPS failed to update the tracking info to "undeliverable" like they are supposed to, it has said "out for delivery" for 5 days now. Needless to say, the buyer did open a case, so unfortunately for me, my money was taken back by PayPal. What exactly does SELLER PROTECTION mean anyway??? So I ship to were it says to, kept and uploaded tracking info and clearly someone at the post office did not do their job, I lost my money and so far, my item too. Post office has no idea where this package is, it's not my fault. It's my buyer's. To make matters worse, Ebay does not care whatsoever unless this tracking info is marked delivered. So I lose. Period.
Thoughts anyone???
