item bought as guest - no access code - can't track order

Bought an item as a guest, want to track my order. In order to do so I've tried these instructions:

"If you bought an item as a guest, you’ll need to sign in as a guest user to view your order details. Follow these steps:

1. If you’re signed in to eBay, sign out to avoid any error messages.
2. Find your eBay guest order confirmation email—the subject line starts with “Guest Order.”
3. Select View order details in the email.
4. Enter your email address and access code to sign in as a guest user.
5. From Order details you can choose to contact the seller, report that you didn't receive the item, or return the item."

...but: after I click on View order details in my confirmation email (point 3), I just get redirected to a log in window which asks for my email and (how convenient) an access code. I've never received any access code, not in the confirmation email or any other kind of email. Checked my Trash and Junk/Spam folder: nothing.

So: where is this access code to be found?
