has anyone been duped by Ebay regarding a bonus coupon they issued and refused to honor ?

Just wondering what the end result was.  I was issued a surprize  coupon to apply against my next $50.00 order if I used it by the 19th.  I made a purchase today and they didn't apply the coupon despite my clicking the box connected to it. Cust. service just told me that they saw it wasn't properly applied and that I had to cancel the sale and repurchase the item to get credit.
