has anybody had an issue with items you listed, then deleted show up for sale?

Has anybody had an issue with items you listed, a few months ago, then I deleted the listing because they weren't selling.  So I relisted those items on other sites. Yesterday a video game sells on ebay that I know that I had deleted that listing.  Is it some glitch with eBay, or am I doing something wrong. I messaged the buyer explaining that the game had been sold on another site and that I thought that game was not listed on eBay, at this time. I refunded his money, canceled the order and apoligized, and apoligized for any inconviences. why are old listings showing up or do old listings relist themselves?
