I'm trying to change a po box address for the Fed Ex label I want to print from eBay. I can edit the label address but it will not let me carry out the purchase of label or print. The buyer has deleted their po box address but it's still there in the system. eBay support have offered no answers. Any thoughts?

The buyer did not remove the PO box from his address prior to making payment. You need to ship to the address the buyer provided at payment to retain seller protection.
The best course of action is to cancel the transaction (use problem with buyer's address as the reason) and then relist the item. Send the new item # to the buyer so he can repurchase and advise him to use the edit link next to the address shown at checkout if needed before proceeding through payment.

Pity eBay can't be flexible and change this ridiculous glitch.

This is not a glitch. It is to protect both the buyer and seller. There have been scammers posing as the buyer that sends the seller an email asking to please send to an address different from the one attached to the payment. If the seller is not on the ball, and doesn't realize the message is NOT from the buyer, the seller could end up sending the item to the scammer if the seller was able to change the SHIP TO address.
Then there is the possibility that the buyer states s/he never received the package. If tracking shows the seller sent to the SHIP TO address attached to the payment, the seller wins the case.
You can have more than one SHIP TO address in your Personal Info > Addresses If you know the seller will be using Fed Ex or UPS to ship, when you go to pay, you select your physical street address. When you know the seller will be using USPS, then you can select your P.O. Box.
