buyer opened a return but didn't send it back

Hi all,

A buyer requested a return (after 29 days) on an item on Dec 1st that I approved. 

In the RETURN DETAILS it says this : We've asked the buyer to ship the item back by Dec 15. Wait until you get the item back before issuing a refund.You should wait until you get the item back before you refund the buyer. Please ensure that you issue the refund within 2 business days of the item being delivered. If the buyer doesn't send the item back by Dec 15 we may close this return.

It's now the 19th and I have not received the item or any updates on the shipping. 

Meanwhile, ebay is withholding the money from my pending payments. 

When can I expect a resolution? When will ebay close the return? It's 4 days past the 15th. 

I have exhausted trying to find a way to communicate with ebay - all avenues seem to be unavailable currently.

There's nothing you can do but wait.

If the buyer doesn't return the item, Ebay will close the case when they decide to.
