Why all of a sudden do I have to click into an additional page to see the item description?

I hope to heck this is a system issue and somebody didn't actually think it was a good idea.

I now have to open a second page every time I want to view the item description, then manually close the page after I look at it.  

That's sure not what I would call a good buyer experience.
