When do I ship with managed payments?

With the classic system, I only used paypal payments. Now with this **bleep** forced upon us, I have to use this new ebay money grab, "managed payments". When do I ship a purchased item? I do not think I should ship before payment is in MY account. Ebay is in many aspects not a trustworthy partner in financial transactions. If I ship whan ebay has the funds and ebay pulls their usual say one thing but do another and I do not get paid by ebay for an item I have shipped, I am out $$ and an item since I can't in good faith ask a buyer to send back something they paid for within the parameters set up by ebay. This whole reset across the board is a disaster, no classic view, no paypal, why is ebay self destructing?
