I have encountered a seller that has listings showing "free shipping" in the shipping terms section but, in the listing description, says shipping is NOT free and tells their buyers NOT to check out through standard eBay methods but to contact them for an invoice and they will calculate shipping and put the charge on the invoice.
This seems rather fishy to me.
Is this a legitimate means of assessing a shipping charge on eBay?
No. It is not. Sellers are required to enter the information concerning weight/dimensions/method of shipping, so ebay can determine the cost of shipping from the seller's zip code to the buyer's zip code. Find another seller.
