VIN number invalid

I just listed a vehicle for sale. When listing it the VIN number says it was invalid. The vin is legit and comes up in a simple google search so it’s not a typo and it’s not an obscure vehicle so vin info is not hard to find. Called Ebay and they said this happens sometime and to put 17 1’s as a placeholder and put the vin in the description. 

This is definitely puts me at a disadvantage as the vin info doesn’t come up on the listing. Anyone know how to get around this?
