VIEWING COMPLETED LISTINGS

In the past, when searching for an item, I'd check the "completed listings" box on the left side of the page (refinements) and it would bring up all the items matching my search terms that had sold or ended.  I'd click on an item to look at it, and it would show me  the item page with a yellow bar across the top that said "This listing has ended".  Right under that would be the title of the item, and in small blue print right after it "See original listing".  I'd click that and would get to see the original listing.

NOW, when I click the "see original listing", it shows me an item with a blue bar across the top that says "The listing you're looking for is no longer available.  Check out this similar item we found for you"  I DO NOT want to see a similar item, I want to see the original listing like it says I can.  Why is this happening???  It doesn't happen if I go to ebay in private mode, not signed in, and use a vpn to anonymize my ip address.  I called about this issue about a week ago, and the representative tried very hard to figure out what was going on, but ultimately couldn't.  Can anyone tell me what's going on with this?
