The way your user name is displayed

my user name appears as letters and numbers.  How can I change that so that anyone would only see the first and last letter with asterisks in between?

Log out and have another look at that page. You will see your masked ID and it looks like all the others. 

eBay does not display the first letter and the last letter. It is a random scrambling of all the characters in the ID. They are not in any order and they change from listing to listing. You might be 1***d here and m***d on another.

You will always see your eBay ID as you registered it as long as you are logged in to your account.

The a***b format masks everyone else's IDs but not yours to you when you are logged in as you.

Actually, eBay doesn't even use just the letters in the  various eBay IDs, they just randomly chose two letters, so you might be shown to other eBayers as k***m or w***r or whatever two letters shows up.
