How can a buyer come test the quality of electronic items before buying without automated warning messages or restrictions from eBay (eBay messaged me not to give out contact info for someone that ultimately just bought it anyway thru eBay, but wanted to test first - if he bought with cash you are supposed to just input that into the eBay system and pay fees that way (trust system); the concept of the restriction makes sense but I'm not always an expert in things I sell so buyers may ask to test further)?
The item needs to be in your sold listing section awaiting payment with a LOCAL PICK UP ONLY listing. THEN you can share contact info.
IF the buyer changes their mind and does not want the item after they come look at it you need the buyer to message you stating that want to cancel the transaction. Then you can cancel the transaction as buyer requested and get your seller fees back. BUT only if the buyer requests it.
Local pick up only listings have gotten REALLY hard to sell on ebay.
You have to wait until after the buyer wins the item then you use this to share contact info:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/ebayadvsearch?_sofindtype=9
OR you can send an invoice at close of sale and put the contact info there. The buyer will still pay cash on pick up.
If the buyer changes their mind does not want the item then they will have to request a buyer cancellation of the transaction. Then you cancel it in the resolution center. Without the buyer requesting this you will still be charged the final value fees.
I'd put in the listing: Due to ebay policy I will contact you with information after you win the item to arrange pick up.
Local pick up only listing:
First of all, when listing you want to choose "no shipping: Local pickup only" in the shipping section. It is in the drop down box, the last item listed. You also want to put that in the description and you could put local pickup in the title even. Then in the section for paying (with the Paypal logo) you want to click on "add or remove options" in blue and choose:
Other payment methods
Receive payment upon pickup
You should also put that in the description. You only want to accept cash upon pickup. If you do Paypal, then you won't have any online proof of delivery because you aren't shipping. They could pay you and take the item - then go home and file a claim for item not received and you couldn't prove delivery and Paypal would refund them. You could also have them sign a receipt, if you want.
