Shipping charges

Hi, I'm kind of new to Ebay and I don't really understand the shipping from the the sellers point of view. I sold something and the buyer bought it and paid for shipping. The price that they paid for shipping was more than what I actually paid and I used the service that they chose. Do they get refunded the money? Do I need to give them back some of the money that they paid to me. I am so confused. I have also sold something before where I had to chose an option that was more than what they paid for and where did that money come from? I thought it said it was going to come out of my paypal account, but it didn't. If someone could help me out that would be great, thanks.
