Selling issues...

I've been selling on eBay for quite a few years now, but I am taking issue with some of the recent decisions made by eBay when I've had an issue with items I have sold.

Example: Sold an item to a buyer, which was damaged in transit. eBay was supposed to allow me to create a return shipping label for the item, and forward it to the buyer myself. They told me I had THREE days in which to complete this action. On the VERY FIRST day, eBay decided to give the buyer a return label themselves, foregoing the normal return process. I recently had a change of address, so the label received by the buyer had the WRONG address on it, which complicated matters further. When inquiring as to why eBay did what they did, all they could do was say "sorry" and now I have to wait to see if the item will be forwarded to me from the wrong address, which I doubt.

So, their lack of proper procedure and follow-through has cost everyone unnecessary time, money and stress. The ebay rep I spoke to confirmed that they should not have done what they did, but this is not an isolated incident in which eBay went against their own policies and did something they were not supposed to do.

Several months ago, I had a similar incident as a BUYER, in which the item I purchased never did arrive, but yet eBay gave me NO TIME to make a proper claim on it, siding with the seller and not giving me a chance to research and dispute the whereabouts of the item. I lost about $175 on that purchase, and once again, eBay is not taking responsibility for the snafu.

I'm wondering, how it would be possible for me to be alone in these scenarios, and how many of you have had similar (inexplicable) incidents that have gone awry?

Thank you in advance!
