Scammed with a return

Hello,

We had our first scam. We had a buyer wait until day 30 to request a return of a Graded Pokemon Card. The buyer claimed that it had only arrived the day before, even though the tracking had shown it was delivered 20+ days before, and that the card had a scratch on it. Although this is possible, it did not have any defects when it left our possession.

We sent the same message to them daily, asking for pictures of the damages so we may file a claim until we were forced by eBay to accept the return.

The Buyer waited until the last day to ship the package. When the package arrived, we knew it could not be the graded card we had originally sent out as this bubble mailer was flexible and not rigid as should be with a solid case.

We decided to record the opening of this package. Inside the package was an opened pack of Pokemon cards. Not at all what she was supposed to return.

eBay promptly closed the case because the return had been delivered.

I have a few questions...

If this is eBays policy, and people are aware they can do this without any repercussions, what is keeping everyone from doing this?

What is my recourse as a seller to ensure my products are protected through the return process?

Where do I go from here? There is no link or means by which I can appeal as the case was unjustifiably closed.

I know of several other sellers who also face this sort of issue. Where are the seller protections?

Lastly, the buyers name is... marmar-7945 ... I strongly suggest blocking this buyer. **bleep** thing is, I can't even change the automatic feedback Shopify left for her. There are literally ZERO consequences for this behavior. This is truly unfortunate.

ebay keeps track of how many reports are made against a buyer, and can block that buyer from future returns if there are too many reports.  Add that buyer's user ID to your blocked bidders list so this doesn't happen to you again.
