Sales tax did not get added to an in-state sale.... now what??

Hi folks,

I'm a new seller and just sold my first in-state item last night... only down side is that no sales tax was invoiced to the buyer.  I had entered a sales tax amount for my state on the appropriate page of My Account.  Why didn't this work?   The item sold was Buy It Now.  Did that have something to do with it?  I stated in the Shipping section of the listing that in-state sales tax would be charged.  Can I invoice the buyer separately for the sales tax... or do I need to eat this one?
