Returns require a pic and do not know how to attach a pic. Help please.

@alabamathrifter   You will need to contact customer service for assistance if you are not able to attach a photo.

Here's how to contact eBay customer service for assistance.

1.Select Chat with automated assistant on the left hand side of this page:

https://www.ebay.com/help/contact_us?id=4191&st=10

Then in the chat box on the lower right of the linked page type AGENT to talk to a live eBay customer service agent or request a call back.

If you are using a cell phone turn off the spam filter or it may block the call back

If you are located outside of the US or Canada then you will need to use chat or social media.

2. Or you can also contact customer service by sending a private message on social media. You leave a message and an eBay employee will get back to you as soon as possible. To speed things up you can leave your registered account information in the PRIVATE message: Full name, address, phone number, email address, user ID, and a brief explanation of your problem.

You are not required to attach a pic.  But it's courteous to do so.  The seller probably wants to figure his chance on submitting an insurance claim.

If you're sending a message to the seller by using the Contact Seller link in the listing, by the time you get to the text field, there's a link just below it that says Add Photos.

If you're using another method, then look in the icons just above the text field for a camera.  Click that.  If you don't see a camera icon, look for a way to add more icons.  The place to click to expand the icons will be the last one on the right.  While I'm typing in this field, it consists of three horizontal dots.

The first thing you have to do is take the picture, and save it in a folder you'll be able to find easily.  You're going to have to navigate to the file and click it ... I think I remember you have to double click it.

Those directions are for if you're using a computer.  I don't use the mobile app, so someone else will have to help you if you are.

edited to add ~  I just remembered.  Sometimes you can just copy and paste the picture.  Get the picture on the screen and right click it.  On the drop down menu that opens, click Copy Image.

@gosimus   @alabamathrifter   There has been some recent changes to the return process.

This is from community staff devon@ebay

"On September 9th 2021, we started a pilot that requires a photo before opening a SNAD return. Buyers had the option to add the photo, so the only change is making it mandatory. Anyone that has trouble uploading photos they can reach out to customer support and they should be able to open the return claim for the buyer."

I should have mentioned this in my reply.

Thanks for the update.  One consequence immediately came to my mind.  It's so obvious, I wonder could it have been overlooked by the policy makers?

Far too often, a buyer will open a NAD only to avoid having to pay for the return shipping, when there was nothing at all wrong with the item.  If a picture is required, then these unscrupulous buyers will realize they have to ensure that there is something wrong with the item, maybe by using a hammer.

@gosimus   >> maybe by using a hammer <<  That's what I think, too.  Asking for a photo has a risk to it.
