Returns and how to calculate the return amount.

A buyer is returning an item, but wants $200 back. I only received $134.00 for the item from Ebay.   The reason for the return is simply that the buyer did not like and 'changed her mind.'  How is this handled? and should I reimburse more for the item than I received to sell it?

Returns and how to calculate the return amount.

If the return is for a not as described reason, then you must refund the full amount of the item plus the original shipping. If the return is a remorse reason - don’t like it, found better price, etc - then you do not have to refund the original shipping, just the full amount of the item.

You have to fund the full amount of the refund, then eBay will reverse the fees. No one likes it, but theirs is how refunds work for all of us.

Thank you very much for your response.  I finally got to speak to someone at Ebay, after repeatedly hearing they were not available to speak (in the middle of the day), claiming it was outside of their hours...whatever that meant.  Apparently I am not to refund more than I received.  They will refund their fees, so the buyer will get the full refund.  I wish that the website of Ebay was not such a rabbit hole of options and that this refund information is simply informed when you get a refund. Getting to speak with someone is a very time consuming and frustrating experience.

I appreciate your effort at responding very much!

eBay will add the tax, but you must refund the full amount of the item (and shipping if appropriate). eBay then reverses the fees to you, not the buyer.

Thank. you for letting me know.  It is strange that ebay does not simply inform this.
