Returning a computer: Would upgrading the OS be grounds for refusing refund?

Hello all!  I will be selling a 2015 MacBook Air laptop here at eB that's virtually unused, and want to offer 30-day return & refund. The OS in this 2015 Air is the older Mojave.  Q: If I require the buyer to NOT upgrade to a newer OS if s/he wants a refund, but they upgrade the OS anyway and return the Mac for refund, can I deny the refund?

Not entirely. You can deduct a portion of the refund if returned in a different condition, but if you list with returns accepted, you accept all returns.

If the MacBook can not be upgraded beyond a certain level, make sure you disclose that in your listing.  Or upgrade it to the point where it can be upgraded, then disclose that no further updates can be performed. Apple will not let you update the OS beyond the OS that will work on that model/release date.

I use an old desktop Mac that I haven’t been able to update for years - it still works fine, but I would never try to sell it.
