Refinding payment to a buyer

I just had a transaction that the buyer contacted me about not being as described.

They did not want to return or file a complaint. I chose to refund and did not want item returned.

I don't know if this was handled correctly. I don't want it to show that buyer didn;t pay. Should I handle this differently?
