Recommended Tax Filing Software/Website for new sellers

As the title suggests, I am looking for a good tax filing platform for eBay sellers. I have a full time job and started selling personal items on the side this past August. However, I did not receive a 1099-K due to not meeting the reporting threshold. I have been filing my taxes on H&R Block, but this time because I am reporting my sales in addition to my W-2 and such, I have to use a paid version which would be fine if the prices weren't so steep. On top of that, I don't find chatting with agents on H&R to be very helpful because I was given a different answer by each agent I chat with.

Any suggestion would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

While I like Turbo Tax better a copy of H&R Premium is cheaper and can usually be found at quite a reasonable price on ebay (I never pay more than $30.).  However, if you are only selling personal garage sale items, you should be able to use the free online version and not need Schedule "C" or others.

Generally for most personal item sales there is no profit, as it is obvious you are selling at a loss, so you only need to provide a reasonable estimate of value.

Currently the IRS is allowing a simplified way to do this when just selling personal or garage sale items not for profit or as a business or hobby. You report the total amount as Misc/Other Income. You then can post an Adjustment up to that total amount to offset that income. This results in a wash (zero profit), you will owe no taxes, and the IRS will be happy.

Only a few of the items I sold were at a gain. In that case, is it true that if I sold any item for more than I had originally paid I would have to report the sale of that item on a Schedule "D"?

Do I report the Total Gross Income (before shipping labels and other fees) or the Total Net Amount?

No real need for Schedule "D" for a few lower value/profit items, just make the adjustment to show the profit in the Misc/Other Income.

Your report the total Gross Income.  Then you make the adjustment, which includes item cost, shipping, fees, refunds, etc.  Note that none of the has anything to do with the sales tax ebay processed and paid for you.

You can find the total gross processed by ebay here (make sure you select the right time period:
