Ebay's new automatic return system is not setup to watch out for sellers. Twice now in 2 weeks, ebay automatically allowed a return, even though my policy states that I only accept returns for damaged or not as described items. Both times I received back used merchandise but the ebay representative basically told me to suck the loss off and shrug it off. The customer receives a full refund, even though I am out of shipping costs. When a customer has a problem with an item and wants to return it, I always work with them. Sometimes it's a simple return process but other times I have to explain to them my ebay policy that states that I don't allow returns for buyer remorse. When they push, I usually allow the return because I don't want a case set up against me and get a defect. Sellers are being scared into obliging any buyers requests because they will be penalized in the long run. Is ebay now trying to compete with Amazon? All of the rules seem to be something that would be offered for a large retail business, but they don't work for the small business people selling on ebay.
