I have had a couple of transactions where the buyer wants to return a cheap priced item. I will contact the buyer and tell them if they agree not to ship the item back I will immediately refund them for their purchase. They agree, I issue their refund, and a few days later I receive the item in the mail. The return labels generated by ebay cost me more money. What do I need to do to appove a buyer's request for a return where it will give the buyer a refund but not generate a label for them to ship the item back (and charge me for it)? When the buyer opens a request for a return, ebay automatically approves it and generates a label before I have a chance to decide if I want that item back. Please help!
Set your return preferences to require an RMA #.
eBay will tell you when they have approved a return, and it is waiting for your input. You can then have eBay generate a label, or just issue a refund. I do this, too 🙂
