Ebay started collecting sales tax on purchases to Illinois. The link posted on ebay for the state redirects to a broken link. Fix it please.
Secondly, some things are still not taxable in Illinois when purchased such as coins, banknotes and precious metals. Will the ebay attempt to tax these items if the transaction occurs between two Illinois residents? How about if the seller is overseas?
Third, how do I see what tax will my purchase be charged if I bid? The two auctions I won did not have any tax due information on the listing and it was only at checkout did I find there was a tax....Wow. In my decade plus on ebay, I learned a very unpleasant surprise.
Here is the link for you.
