Charging Sales Tax

I am an eBay seller in Oregon & have been for years.  Oregon does not have Sales Tax.  All of a sudden, eBay has started charging my buyers Sales Tax.  When I called (before the COVID19 scare) I could not understand the person who answered my call.  Her English was much too bad so I still do not know why eBay is charging my buyers Sales Tax.    I have no idea what to do with the extra money.  Should I be sending it to a sales tax board somewhere?   I would rather return it to the buyer but at this point, I don't remember who they are or how much they have been charged.   I would much rather my buyers are not charged Sales Tax!!   Can anyone help me with this??  Thank you very much.

Hi @experiencedmerchandise

About 39 states currently require eBay to collect and remit taxes from buyers for items that are delivered to those states.  It doesn't matter where the seller or item are located.

The money isn't being given to you.  eBay sends it to the states that require eBay to collect it.  You don't need to do anything about the tax.
