20 year on ebay and now this?

I do not sell a whole lot on ebay anymore but here is what happened.

I sold some legos for all of $5.00 they were heavy so the post office charged me $10.03 for ground shipping.

I thought Ebay took 10% and Pay pal would take 3% more for total of 13% or .65 cents

I was quite surprised to find out ebay was charging me a FEE to ship the item as well so another 13%? on my $10 shipping fee of $10.03 or $1.30 fee charged to me.

$5.00 sale

.65 fee for item

1.30 fee for shipping

My profit $3.05

What the hell ebay?

I researched tonight and found out they have been doing this since 2011? charging a fee on shipping?

They just need to call it what it is.

Don't charge a fee for a service THEY don't provide.

Increase the final value fee to 20%

This is lame wow.

I know $5.00 sale who cares.

Ebay began charging FVF on shipping in 2011. Before that, there were more and more sellers who were listing items as $0.99 BINs with $100 shipping to avoid paying fees. It got so bad that eBay could no longer police it, so they just started charging fees on shipping too. So you can thank those sellers for the charge.

Successful eBay sellers roll all of their selling fees into the opening bid or BIN price.
