August 4th I ordered a portable charging device for my phone. I'll admit I was wanting to not spend a lot money. First of all, the listing I decided on, did not have enough photos. I should have asked the seller or moved on to another listing immediately. But I though I fully understood what was being sold to me.
I receive the charger August 9th and checked it out. And I find that either I totally screwed up on my understanding of the item description, OR it was a totally inappropriate description of the item that was sold to me. It looked identical to the picture. I re-read more that once the item description in the listing. I contacted the seller and told him my issues with the charger and pointed out exactly in his description where it was just plain false. And of course he argued with me that I misunderstood and I told him that any reasonable person would have comprehended his description in the same way that I did. There were 2 things (I thought at that time) he described improperly...but actually it's 3 things now that I know what I know.
One was that the listing said this charger had a supposed "built in flashlight". I had no use for a flashlight (i've got real flashlights) on the item so I let that go. What he was calling a flashlight was the 4 led battery level indicator...seriously, this "flashlight" is 4 pinhead sized "lights". If you're navigating a set of stairs with that so-called flashlight you've got a whole other problem.
The second thing was the listing specifically said dual output ports and that I could charge 2 devices at one time. Wrong!! The photo only showed one output port, but stupid me thought the other output port must be on the other end. Remember I said there were not enough photos. Ok, so I can live without either of those because the item was so reasonably priced. A seriously low price. And I really only have one device...my phone....that I would charge on the go anyway. AND, you get what you pay for, right?
But the last thing is a show-stopper and the reason i bought the item in the first plce. This charger is supposed to be a 12000 mAh charger meaning I SHOULD be able to charge my iPhone 7+ battery AT LEAST 3 times (it's a 2700 mAh iphone battery), but really 4 charges if I take the specs at face value. I would have accepted 3 times. I'd probably accept 2 charges. Hah! According to the battery indicator (flashlight), the power bank was fully charged when I hooked up my iphone with a battery level at 42%. The power bank FAILED to take my iphone battery from a 42% charge to a 100% charge. The power bank died (i.e. battery indicator "lights" dark) when my phone battery reached 85%. That's it...a 43% charge is all I got out of this item. The power bank takes way longer to charge than it does to discharge into my phone.
Now that is either serious misrepresentation OR I got a lemon. Well I already gave the seller feedback and I believe it was "Neutral'" because I knew he did not have any more of these listed so I assumed he did not have any more TO list. I did mention the so-called flashlight and the "missing" output port in the feedback. But you can't say a whole lot in the feedback space. But at that time I didn't know it wouldn't charge my phone even once. From what I could tell from previous feedback he sold less than 5 of the chargers (if I remember correctly). So I figured everybody else out there was safe from falling for that con because there were no more to buy.
Now I'm just **bleep**. It's probably too late to do anything now. This listing was possibly one of the cheapest available on eBay for the features it PROFESSED to have. It did not take food off my table or out of my kids' mouths. Only way to get one cheaper would probably have meant ordering from someplace in Asia and waiting 3 or more weeks.
So... I wanted to rant and ask...does anyone out there have any comments about how they would have handled this situation? Would you contact the seller at this point, so far after the sale, and tell him about the inability of this charger to charge my phone even once? Or would you just let it go?
Sorry that was so long. Got carried away with my rant!
