Has anyone had a problem entering your primary shipping address in your account information? Ebay automatically puts my apartment number on the second line of the address.
I enter my address like this:
Name
123 Streetname Dr Apt 100
City, State Zip
But then ebay's website automatically changes it to this:
Name
123 Streetname Dr
Apt 100
City, State Zip
USPS considers this format undeliverable: http://pe.usps.com/businessmail101/addressing/deliveryAddress.htm
The apartment number (or suite, etc) is supposed to go on the SAME line as the street address. If it does not fit on the same line, then it should go on the line ABOVE, not below.
Even if I enter my address like this:
Name
Apt 100
123 Streetname Dr
City, State Zip
The ebay website still changes it to this:
Name
123 Streetname Dr
Apt 100
City, State Zip
Amazon usually changes the format of their shipping addresses so that it complies with USPS requirements. Here, it seems to be the opposite.
Recently one of my ebay packages was not delivered, and the USPS tracking information said the package was undeliverable, presumably because the apartment number was written on the line below the street address. It was a gift, and now I will have to purchase another one in order to receive it in time. Very inconvenient, especially when you're buying vintage items which are unique. I've experienced this problem before when someone tried to send me a letter or vice versa and the apartment number was written on the line below the street address. The letters were returned to the sender.
I just spoke over the phone with two ebay representatives, and neither of them could solve my problem. Is this just an issue with my account? Has anyone else experienced this?
