Paying with ebay gift card, and credit card linked to account.

Hello, I purchased an ebay gift card today because I had cash and did not want to use all of what I had in my checking account that is linked to my Paypal account here.  What I wanted to know is, can I make a purchase using both the gift card and my paypal credit card on file?

For instance, if I am making a purchase for $100, and I have $80 on a gift card...can I apply the $80 from the gift card, and then use my card on file (paypal) for the remaining $20 on the same purchase?

Absolutely.

Assuming that you are using  a browser, not a mobile app, do the following.

When you go to eBay checkout ....

Working you way down the checkout page:

1. Select Paypal are your payment method & log in to your account.
2. Verifiy that your credit card is set to be the funding source.
3. Verify that your shipping address is correct.
4. If the seller offers more than one shipping method, select the one you want.
5. Input the eBay gift card 13 digit redemption code & click [Apply].
6. Look the whole screen over to make sure everything looks good.
7. Click [Confirm & Pay] on the right hand side of the page.

Checkout will use up the balance on your gift card before charging your credit card.

Hold on to the physical card until after you have received your item & know that you will not be needing to receive a refund.

To use an eBay gift card (13 digit numeric code)

• The seller must accept payment via Paypal
• The buyer must have an eBay account that is registered in the US
• The buyer must provide a shipping address that is located in the US
• The buyer no longer needs to use a Paypal account (Fall 2017)
• The Gift Card may only be used for purchases made on ebay.com

Once used with a particular eBay ID, it cannot be used with any other eBay ID.

eBay gift cards cannot be used when purchasing:

eBay Gift Cards, third party gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be "bullion" (for example, gold, silver, and other precious metals in the form of coins, bars, or ingots).

There are also limits to the amount of gift cards the buyer can use:

No more than a total of $2000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

A maximum of 8 redemption codes may be applied during a single checkout.
