PayPal Two-Factor Authentication Not Working from eBay

After selecting my item to purchase on eBay, I select PayPal as my payment method.  I am presented with the PayPal login screen and I enter my password.  The screen then spins indefinitely while I'm expecting my PayPal Two-Factor authentication validation prompt to appear.  I've tried 6 times now to make this purchase and have the same problem.  I CAN log into my PayPal account (with 2FA), but cannot do so from eBay.  I called the PayPal helpdesk and they shuffled me off to the eBay helpdesk - and I spoke with someone who had no idea what Two-Factor Authentication was and had no interest in anything other than telling me that I MUST be locked out of my Paypal account.  Not only frustrating that there are completely inept people answering the eBay helpdesk phones, but also that I can't make my purchase.  I suspect that turning off Two-Factor will make it work...but who wants to go BACKWARDS in the security of your PayPal account?  Any answers out there???
