Nasty response to simple question.

The other day I saw an item that interested me.  Asked the buyer in a short email if there was a cheaper way to ship it.  Not a demand and not at all unpleasant.  Just a simple question.  And I frequently ask - if it's no - then it's up to me to decide on bidding but I have never been attacked.  Today I was.  And I also asked that the person not continue to email me and she has and been even nastier.  I didn't buy the item or even bid - I was very put off.  I have been on eBay since 1998 and have 100%  feedback.  She says I have had complaints/feedback about postage.  Not so.  But the vitriol bothers me.   SHe is quite nasty.  Any input?
