My summary of active items as a seller has two sets of numbers

There is a total of active items at the top of my active listings page. I have only fixed price listings and no auction. There is a second total next to it in parenthesis. That one is always a higher number. What does that mean? Do I have a phantom lister? I have already asked customer support and they do not know. They turned it over to their technical team. One week later there is still no answer.
