Local buyer prefers I drop off item (I am happy to)...how do I provide "tracking" to ebay?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am a small-time seller with a new store and I'm really unclear on some of ebay's procedures and policies.

I made a sale (free shipping) and the buyer turns out to live about three miles from me.  He said he'd be happiest if I drop the item off, over the weekend because he's out of town.  I am happy to do that (saves me money anyway), but how do I not get dinged by ebay for not providing shipping and tracking information?  I don't want to do anything that would harm my DSR's or ability to become a Power Seller when I'm actually going above and beyond.  Oh, and he paid immediately via Paypal, so that timer is running...
