Label Printing issues

Good morning,

I use a thermal label printer for my packages. Ive been using this printer for some time now. As of yesterday the label orientation changed and I cannot print a complete label. I have resorted to using my regular inkjet printer. I have checked all the settings, re-booted the PC and printer, removed the printer and added it back to no avail. This morning I checked my ship station label printing and all is good there. I also, did a sample label print on my Thermal printer and it printed perfectly.

The issue I have determined is an EBAY one. Any others having this problem?

Did you recheck the ebay label format is still correct?

Are you opening PDF files with Adobe?

Do the label preview look correct?

What model printer and size of label are you using?

I'm not sure how to check the ebay printing format? Not sure how it could have changed. I've been using a Arkscan Thermal printer very successfully for several years without a problem up until yesterday. Ant ideas?

On the ebay create label page look to the right and click on Show More.  You will see the current label format.  If it is not correct click on Change.

If that's ok, then I need to know the whether the label preview looks correct and whether you are opening the PDF label file with Adobe.  A screen shot of the preview will also help.

It looks like the ebay label format is set to 8 1/2" x 11", and not 4"x6".  You need to go check this first as it sometimes gets reset with updates.

Also it would appear your browser is not opening PDF files with Adobe.  This is also something that some browsers reset to their own built in reader, so you need to check this, as ebay can be picky about it for shipping labels. 

What browser are you using?

I am using Firefox. how do I reset these items?

In Firefox click on Settings under the Tools tab at the top left.

Scroll down to Applications, then scroll within that window to Portable Document Format and select Adobe in the drop down menu to the right. 

When you go to create another label, look to the lower right side and click on Show More.  At the bottom will will be the current ebay format.  If not set to 4"x6", click on Change.  Note there is also a preview test you can do from there.

When the label preview opens, select the Target Printer.  Adobe print options should be set to Actual Size and Auto Orientation.  You may also have to check the box for “Choose paper source by PDF page size”, depending on your printer for the label to fully fill the preview label outline.

Need details.  I use Firefox here and these settings work when ebay format is set properly.  Note you can not reprint a label to test, it has to be a new one.

Did you try the test output from the ebay format settings page?  Did it work?

If this still doesn't work do this test, save the label to PDF and then print it with Adobe from the PDF file.  If this prints correctly then your Firefox settings are not correct.  If it doesn't print correctly then your ebay settings are not correct.

Suggest you check for updates for Firefox and update it first.  Then refresh or install Adobe and set it as the default reader, which will correctly set Firefox.  You'll still have to make sure ebay is set to the 4x6 PDF format.

I really appreciate your time. I sell tons on Ebay and other sites but when it comes to settings, etc. I'm a little lost. Th printer is working fine printing from my Ship Station Pay pal app. The problem is definately with an EBay setting.

You will have to change the settings yourself or find someone to help you.

Just start another label, but don't purchase it.  On the create label page just look to the right hand side and click on SHOW MORE.  You will see the label size, is it set to 4x6?  If not click on CHANGE.

Never done that before. Where do I find "Create lable page"?

When ever you click on Print Label or Print another label, to ship a package the window that opens is the create label page.

If you have no items currently to ship, go to your Paid & Shipped page, and in the drop down menu next to an already shipped item click on Purchase Shipping Label.  Don't actually pay and purchase one, but this will open the create label page for you to check the settings.
